I'll check out the yahoo group, that might help.

Jean-Louis: it looks like there may be a lot of common ground between Estria and Monte-Cristo, and between what you and I are trying to achieve. I guess we both lack armies, you being retired, and me just returning to the hobby. PBEM is sort of how I see this going, just computerized enough that running it doesn't become a chore (I do have a day job!). I look forward to discussing this more.

Can you tell me a little more about those French boardgames? I am not familiar with them, but I love the titles.Principe dell'Estriahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18090298455153620573noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4724335655026997537.post-11369379741426148432011-02-17T08:22:43.535-08:002011-02-17T08:22:43.535-08:00Welcome to the Brotherhood!
I just discovered the ...Welcome to the Brotherhood!
I just discovered the link to your blog in the 'Emperor vs Elector' list of associated blogs - I should peruse it more often!

'Intrigues': a very original and exciting level of gaming. Something of this kind was part of the 'Great Elder Ancestor' of all wargame campaigns, Tony Bath's 'Hyboria', but is generally neglected, and can indeed be a game in itself. I remember 2 French boardgames, "Courtisans de Versailles". and "Intrigues a Venise". I really look forward to enjoy the unfolding of your project.

Actually in the very early months of 'Emperor vs Elector' there was a proposal to try a kind of 'Spies vs Counterspies' play-by-e-mail game between members of the group. I was already retired *also* as a wargamer but wanted to try and contribute, so I created the Presipality of Monte-Cristo as a possible setting for such 'underground interactions'. Eventually the game never took off, but the Presipality stayed and I enjoy(ed) developing its 'character'. Monte-Cristo still and always welcomes visitors (e.g. recently from the 'Defiant Principality')...')...

Best regards and wishes,
sincerely,
Jean-Louisabdul666https://www.blogger.com/profile/16172686098173637906noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4724335655026997537.post-50546337937391418952011-02-15T20:27:54.418-08:002011-02-15T20:27:54.418-08:00Just found your interesting site and wish your end...Just found your interesting site and wish your endeavor great success. I do have a few comments about thoughts that came to me as I read your post.

One is that there is the potential for contacting other Imagi-Nations who might well support claimants to the throne . . . perhaps even eventually with troops.

Second, you might want to look into the "Mythic: Game Master Emulator". I know that some have used it for projects similar to yours. It is NOT a computer device, but from what I've read, is worth checking out. There is also a Yahoo! Group dedicated to "Mythic".

-- JeffBluebear Jeffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05171345165563779232noreply@blogger.com
